CFI Level 4 Diploma in Relational Developmental Communities

Qualification title

CFI Level 4 Diploma in Relational Developmental Communities

Summary

This Level 4 Diploma primarily aims to develop Relational Developmental Practitioners, who:

• Understand not only what has happened to children, but what children need next
• Think developmentally and translate that understanding into intentional everyday practice
• Use therapeutic parenting and therapeutic relationships to promote healing and growth
• Contribute to communities that foster safety, belonging, participation and shared responsibility
• Maintain ambitious developmental expectations whilst recognising each child’s unique journey, and:
• Exercise sound professional judgement within the complexity of therapeutic residential childcare

At its heart of the qualification is a simple proposition:

Children develop through relationships, communities and developmentally sequenced experiences.

The Diploma seeks to equip practitioners with the knowledge, professional judgement and practical capability required to create these conditions intentionally and consistently.

Rather than viewing behaviour as the problem to be managed, practitioners learn to understand behaviour as communication, relationships as the primary vehicle for change, communities as therapeutic environments and everyday experiences as opportunities for development.

Ultimately, the programme seeks to answer a single question:

How do we help children move from protection and survival towards belonging, growth, agency and thriving adulthood?
