Summary
This qualification is for 14-16 year olds and contains two modules. An Independent Project enables students to follow their passion and explore an interest or career aspiration in depth whilst developing the ability to self-direct and coordinate their own learning. Creative Thinking Skills develop the skills of making connections and using different perspectives to communicate ideas or concepts. Students will also develop skills of reflection and making reasoned judgements. The Creative Thinking Skills module draws on formal, non-formal and informal learning and any area of the taught curriculum.
Key features
It equips students with a range of relevant skills which supports them to access higher education employment and entrepreneurship. These skills include:
- good communication
- working as part of a team
- the ability to use creative thinking skills
- generating new ideas
- developing situational awareness

Learners must be aged 14 or over
It is the school or centre’s responsibility to ensure that students who are entered for this qualification make reasonable progress and are likely to achieve at this level.

Blended, full or part time, as well as independent study. Some module specific delivery requirements as appropriate.
How long does it take?
2 years part-time recommended. The programme should be completed in a maximum of 4 years following registration.
Assessment
This qualification is graded Pass/Merit/Distinction which are pass grades and Working Towards which is a fail. Learners are expected to complete a portfolio of evidence, demonstrating meeting the learning outcomes.
