Staff from the Institute met the Principal and senior management from Wuhan City Vocational College, Hubei province, China and the Mayor of Gloucester on 22nd September. It was an exciting opportunity to learn more about education in China and share ideas and experiences. The meeting particularly focused on teaching in early years educators.

This stark culture clash was experienced by pupils at one school where an experiment was conducted. For four weeks, year 9 pupils in one UK school adopted the pattern of the Chinese school day and had Chinese teachers. The pupils wore a special uniform and started the 12 hour school day at 07:00. Once a week there was a pledge to the flag. Lessons were focused on note-taking and repetition.
